Often referred to as the “Academy Awards of the Western,” the Golden Boot Awards were established to recognize those performers, stunt people, producers, and directors who have furthered the tradition of the Western on film and in television.

Val Kilmer is among an elite group of amazing talent to receive this award.  The list is extensive but just to name a few; Gene Autry, Jack Elam, Dale Evans, Slim Pickens, Roy Rogers, Forrest Tucker, Lee Van Cleef, Will Rogers, Pat Buttram, John Carradine, Iron Eyes Cody, Michael Landon, Jane Russell, James Stewart, Audie Murphy, James Arness, Burl Ives, Louis L'amour, Cesar Romero and Glenn Ford are all recepients of the prestigious Golden Boot Award.
