While in Chechnya, volunteering for the humanitarian organization Doctors Beyond Borders, American doctor Nicholas Pinter (Val Kilmer) finds himself in a whole lot of trouble. 

On his way to deliver a baby, he has an unexpected encounter with a beautiful, mystery woman, (Izabella Miko). 

Later that evening, his best friend is murdered in his apartment, which then leads to a case of mistaken identity and a series of capers, chases and espionage.
