Kilmer talking to Rep Verela about Curtis Jackson 1-26-10

That's Not Wyoming, That's Kilmer's Pecos River Ranch!

Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker's new film Did You Hear About the Morgans? opens December 18, 2009. Grant revealed recently in a publicity interview that the witness protection location called Ray, Wyoming in the movie is not really in Wyoming, but actually in New Mexico.  All that beautiful scenery is on Kilmer's New Mexico ranch where they filmed.

Kilmer is not in this movie but his beautiful Pecos River Ranch is.

Kilmer on Running for Governor, Selling His Ranch and Rolling Stone Magazine

On running for governor

According to KOB.com's Eyewitness News, Antoinette Antonio caught up with Kilmer recently (8-22-09) at a charity benefit for New Mexico's foster children and posed the following questions:

“Tell us” asked Antonio “there’s been a lot of talk about you testing the waters for a for run governor. Will you be running in the 2010 election?”

“No, I’m not running for governor,” said Kilmer. “But I have been really flattered and moved by the interest of other concerned citizens.”

Despite recent meetings at the Round House, reported talks with senators Bingaman and Udall and a report of a planned trip to meet with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to discuss the crossover from Hollywood to politics, Kilmer made it clear, in a tentative sort of way, that he’s not running…for now.

Antonio: “So you’re clearing the air for right now, not running for governor?”

Kilmer: No, unless - oh isn’t that a good cut, ‘unless?”

Later, Kilmer says, “Well, you never know in politics. I’ve learned that much.”

Antonio: “So you’re leaving the door open?”

Kilmer: “No. No, I’m not running. I’m looking forward to supporting our Democratic candidate.”

There is currently only one Democratic candidate for governor, current Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish. A call to her office for comment on Kilmer’s support was not returned.

Santa Fe Indian Market

For any of you who were lucky enough to attend the Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sunday, Aug 23, 2009, you probably saw a familiar and might I add very handsome guy. Yep, Val Kilmer was there helping judge the annual Native American clothing contest. The competitors modeled traditional and contemporary Native American clothing.

The competition is one of the biggest draws at Indian Market.  After the competition, Kilmer posed for pictures with the models, designers and fans.

According to the official website, each year the Santa Fe Indian Market includes 1,200 artists from about 100 tribes who show their work in over 600 booths. The event attracts an estimated 100,000 visitors to Santa Fe from all over the world.

Buyers, collectors and gallery owners come to Indian Market to take advantage of the opportunity to buy directly from the artists. For many visitors, this is a rare opportunity to meet the artists and learn about contemporary Indian arts and cultures. Quality is the hallmark of the Santa Fe Indian Market.

On listing his ranch for sale:

"I will always be here. I only listed the whole ranch, to try and attract a business partner for an idea I've got for a sustainable off the grid community."

On statement to Rolling Stone Magazine saying that he lives in the 'homicide capitol of the southwest:'

"It was taken out of context. Where I live, it has a great deal of drunk drivers there, in my county. I live in San Miguel county, which is everyone’s concern. That’s just a fact, that’s not an opinion."
