Santa Fe
"There’s a sophisticated culture and community here, and I really respect it." ~Val Kilmer
Val Kilmer was born and raised in southern California. But this California boy fell in love with New Mexico, "The Land of Enchantment" and has lived there for more than twenty years. As a matter of fact, Kilmer lovingly calls New Mexico the "Land of Entrapment." Once bitten...
Although Kilmer has frequently been spotted in Santa Fe, his home is in Rowe, New Mexico, specifically, The Pecos River Ranch. Kilmer's ranch is aproximately 6,000 acres on the most pristine land in the country. He has graciously opened his ranch to various charitible organizations, in particular, The Wildlife Center, located in Espanola, New Mexico.
Kilmer has been involved for many years with the Wildlife Center, whose goal is to rehabilitate injured wild animals and release them back into their natural enviroment. Several animals including bears, mountain lions and many other creatures native to New Mexico have been released on Kilmer's ranch.
Kilmer loves New Mexico, the land, its people and is generous to his community, giving back unselfishly whenever possible.
The video below does not do justice to the beauty of New Mexico, but maybe will give you a glimpse of what it is like there and why Kilmer calls this part of the country home.
