Poe's Classic Chiller

 

This classic Edgar Allen Poe story was aired in 1986 as a made for TV movie. 

 

A very youthful Val Kilmer plays Philippe, who has fallen in love with Claire (Rebecca DeMornay), but nonetheless tries to prove her fianceé is innocent of murder.

 

Together they convince her detective father (George C. Scott) to come out of his enforced retirement.

 

This story has been told many times but as it is Poe, you can be sure it has a twist at the end, which may nonetheless surprise you, even if you have read the classic story.

  

This made for TV movie is available on DVD in Region 1.  This period piece is set in Paris of 1899. 

 

Our Two Cents: It’s hard to go wrong with Edgar Allen Poe, so this one can be a nice addition to a collection.
