Tombstone 1993

 The Raves

While the story deals with Earp and his quest to bring justice to Tombstone, it is a dynamite action-drama that starts with a slow simmer until it threatens to boil over with excitement. The friendship between Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday is also remarkably well-handled, with Val Kilmer stealing scenes with every frame he's in. ~Qwipster

The acting is superb and the fast paced story keeps you hanging on each scene. I especially enjoy Kilmer's adaptation of Doc Holliday. Although Kurt Russell is excellent as the main protagonist Wyatt Earp, it is clearly Kilmer's character that makes the film. His acting is impeccable and I think to date this is his best career performance. I found myself cheering for his character and genuinely moved by his acting as he stole every scene with a solid, beautifully thought and felt imitation of a true Southern gentleman to even include a famous drawl much like historian Shelby Foote.  ~MatchFlick

But it's Kilmer who delivers the standout performance, giving fresh shadings to the lethal but humorous Doc Holliday. ~Variety

A high-energy action adventure based on legend rather than historical fact finds Wyatt Earp, Kurt Russell desiring to retire from law enforcement. With brothers Virgil, Sam Elliot and Morgan, Bill Paxton, he arrives in Tombstone, Arizona intending to build his fortune. He discovers that long-time friend Doc Holliday, Val Kilmer, is there and that the town is run by a group of brutal outlaws called the Cowboys. Earp, frustrated with his laudanum-addicted wife, begins a romance with traveling stage actress Josephine Marcus, Dana Delany. Meanwhile, the Cowboys terrorize the citizens of Tombstone unchecked.

Val Kilmer, Kurt Russell, Sam Elliot, Bill Paxton, Powers Boothe, Michael Biehn, Charleton Heston, Jason Priestley, Thomas Haden Church and Dana Delany.

Kilmer also starred with Biehn in Hardwired and with Boothe in MacGruber.

Hands down, the best western ever! Kilmer's performance has made Tombstone loved by people everywhere.

Warning: This film is addicting, you will be compelled to watch it over and over and over. You will find yourself repeating the line, "I'm your huckleberry" over and over and over. Watch with caution!
